Michael Zellers earned his degree from Ball State University in Indiana from the School of Architecture. After graduation, his professional career began when he took a private sector position with an architectural firm. He gained valuable experience coordinating projects such as the state capitol, the state armory and other state buildings.
Later, Michael accepted a position as a project liaison for the Illinois Department of Natural Resources’ state park needs under the Build Illinois initiative, helping to expand amenities at state parks and lodges at destinations such as White Pines, Giant City and Illinois Beach State Parks.
Michael joined Graham & Hyde Architects in 1987 and eventually became a principal. Today, he serves as project architect in the company, and his engagements include planning, design, construction documentation, and construction administration for new and renovation projects.
While medical projects are a particular specialty, Michael also works on educational and religious facilities, office buildings, historic preservation projects, recreational facilities and commercial projects. He brings skills in concept design and sketching.
A native of central Indiana, Michael has resided in Illinois since 1976. He and his wife Gail, have three children and six grandchildren. Outside of the office, you can find Michael outdoors fishing and hunting, and when time permits, he enjoys automotive restoration.
Michael is a member of the American Institute of Architects and involved with the Central Illinois chapter of AIA. He’s also active in the Greater Springfield Chamber of Commerce.
