Honoring a Legacy, Built for What’s Next

Known affectionately as the “Wood Shed,” Panhandle’s gymnasium has long been a place of pride, tradition, and community spirit. Built in 1955, the facility had served generations of students and athletes so it was ready for thoughtful renewal.

After careful study and comparison of renovation versus replacement, the Panhandle School Board chose a solution that balanced stewardship with progress. Rather than building new, the district invested in a simple multi-purpose addition to support cheerleader practice and a new weight room, while preserving and revitalizing the original gymnasium that means so much to the community.

A Thoughtful Transformation

The renovation touches every aspect of the space, bringing modern performance and comfort while maintaining its' historic character. Improvements include:

  • New bleachers

  • A new wood gym floor

  • Updated HVAC systems

  • New lighting throughout

  • Refreshed interior finishes

Together, these upgrades ensure the Wood Shed continues to serve students safely and proudly for decades to come.

Celebrating Past, Present, and Pride

A refreshed Hall of Champions anchors the renovation, honoring the achievements that shaped Panhandle athletics. New custom graphics stand out as a point of pride; celebrating former players, and teams while connecting today’s students to a rich legacy of excellence.

The result is more than a renovation. It’s a renewed home for school spirit that is rooted in history, ready for the future.
