The school day starts a little easier with a new drop off lane, an inviting bright white exterior canopy and an arched corridor at the entry for children to walk through. While the bright blue panels and sunshade help with the glare from the late-day, western sun.
The South Elementary School renovation and additions brought the 70 year old building up to serve modern educational needs. The two additions include a new secure entrance, office area, and additional classrooms. The existing building was renovated extensively with new finishes throughout, new efficient lighting, and HVAC systems. The renovations included support spaces, gymnasium, classrooms, media center, and cafeteria.
The school construction ran concurrently with the Village of South Jacksonville’s road project. The two design teams collaborated to prepare two seamless sets of documents.
