Constructed in 1997, Vachel Lindsay Elementary School is a brick clad, sloped roof, single-story K-5 facility designed to meet the demands of an expanding urban neighborhood.
The linear building includes 18 classrooms and 7 specialized instructional areas to serve a population of 450 students. Located on the growing west-side of Springfield, Illinois, the school is was designed and built to accommodate future expansions for up to 700 students.
Graham & Hyde Architects has served as district architect to the Springfield School District since 1995, completing over 100 projects from new facilities like Vachel Lindsay to facility additions, minor interior renovations, mechanical system replacements, and more.
