Ben Dockter, AIA, LEED AP BD+C

Even as a kid, Ben Dockter has always been interested in the way things are put together — from Legos to cross-section books. When pursuing a career path, architecture appealed to his desire to “take things apart and rearrange them in new and interesting ways,” he says. Ben moved to Springfield when he was five years old. He received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in architecture from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale. 

Ben is a Principal Architect tasked with maintaining long-standing client relationships through conception and delivery of projects. Ben brings a passion for creative problem solving to each project striving to guide clients through the complex design and construction process by elevating their ideas into a project that exceeds expectations. Ben is a member of the American Institutes of Architects and has previously served as president of the local chapter. He is a LEED Accredited Professional with a specialty in Building Design and Construction, utilizing sustainable design strategies from wind turbines to geothermal systems.

Ben and his wife Emily, a 1st grade teacher in Springfield District #186, have two daughters and one son. When at home, he’s often found “tinkering” with his house, but he also thrives on traveling. In his free time, he enjoys playing soccer, watching movies, and reading.
