Kevin Handy found a passion for architecture as a high schooler working part-time drafting for local home builders.

Kevin L. Handy, AIA Principal G&H Architects, Inc.

He found he enjoyed drafting classes and credits his high school industrial arts teacher for nurturing his interest in drafting and construction.

Kevin came to Graham & Hyde in 2004 and quickly realized the firm was an ideal fit for him. As he has transitioned into a leadership role, he strives to meet the challenge of upholding the foundation and tradition that the firm was built upon, while also transitioning to the future and moving forward. “We’re a stable company that takes care of our employees and works to create an environment where people feel comfortable and want to call it home for many years,” he notes.

Today, Kevin is a Principal where he focuses his time and skills on healthcare projects K-12 and university educational projects, and sustainable design. He specializes in planning, design, construction documentation and construction administration.

This passion blends into his personal interests as well; Kevin enjoys tackling home renovation projects, especially as his teenaged kids get older. He and his wife Mari, a pharmaceutical sales rep, have a son, Peyton and daughter, Lydia. As a family, they enjoy traveling together on spring and summer breaks — when school and sports schedules allow!

Kevin also likes to golf and bike, and he’s an avid Cardinals fan. He and his son have taken an interest in visiting Major League Baseball stadiums together — with a lifetime goal of visiting all of them.

Kevin is a member of the American Institute of Architects and the Central Illinois Chapter of AIA. He belongs to the Greater Springfield Chamber of Commerce and is a Springfield Business Journal 40 Under 40 Recipient.
